Nau mai, haere mai ki Arakura School
Tēnā koutou, Talofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Kia orana, Fakalofa lahi atu, Namaste, Ni hao, Bula vinaka, Kumusta, Sawatdii, Nau mai haere mai koutou and welcome to Arakura School.
We are a state co-ed primary school nestled beside the beautiful hills of Wainuiomata. Ara means path and kura means learning - pathway to learning. Arakura was the name gifted in 1965 by Īhāia Pōrutu Puketapu (1887-1971). Īhāia Pōrutu Puketapu was a chief and leader of Te Ati-Awa-No-Runga-I-Te-Rangi tribe of Waiwhetu whose vision lead to the building of the wharenui, 'Arohanui ki te Tangata' (Goodwill to All Men), in Waiwhetu.
At Arakura, we take pride in our relationship and connection with our whānau and community, and our tamariki are at the heart of everything we do.
Our vision:
E tū mana mō te ao pai ake
Standing with mana for a better world
