Transition to School

General Transition Support

Our Deputy Principal, Whaea Alisa Wolsey, will work whānau from Kindergartens, Early Childhood Centres and Kohanga Reo to support transition to school. This includes:

• Meeting with whānau

• Tour around the school 

• Organising school visits

• Follow up with whānau one month, six months, and one year after starting school
  
  

Adapted Individual Transition Plan

We also adapt our transition programmes as required for children with additional learning needs.  Working closely with whānau, early childhood services, and agencies is important to us to ensure children have the best start to school.  Adapted transition programmes may include:

• Transition meetings with whānau and any services and agencies invited by whānau

• Visits to the Kindergarten, Centre or Kohanga by key school staff

• Completing an individual transition plan 

• Providing social stories

• Additional school visits
