E tu mana mo te ao pai ake
Standing with mana for a better world
Every child has inherent mana. When nurtured and developed, children find confidence, positive self-esteem, resilience, and courage to live their life to the full, knowing who they are, where they come from, and what passions, interests, and skills they carry in their kete. The future is theirs to make a difference in their lives, their community, and ultimately making our world a better place for all.
Children are natural explorers and incredibly diverse in the way they see the world - through a cultural lens, belief systems, neuro diversity, and sometimes also through the lens of trauma and hardship. Whatever the context of our children, that inherent mana is within them and our role as Arakura educators is to grow their mana to reach their full potential.
Our efforts are focused on creating an inclusive teaching and learning environment that reflects whakawhanaungatanga and our values of kindness, courage, and respect. Our local curriculum is relevant, integrated, and challenging, to equip and connect our children to:
Who they are – their whānau and whakapapa
Our beautiful Wainuiomata community and Te Whanganui-a-Tara region
Our nation and beyond - our history and unique place in the world
Welcome to Arakura, a community school in Wainuiomata!
