Ka Ora Ka Ako, Healthy School Lunches Programme


Ka Ora Ka Ako is a Ministry of Education programme providing healthy lunches to almost 1000 schools - we are fortunate to be one of them.

Internal Model of Healthy School Lunches


Following a survey of our school community in 2022, there was overwhelming support for us to move to the internal model of providing lunches for our children.  In Term 2 2023 we started this model. 



So, what does this mean for Arakura school?


Lunch is prepared daily onsite by our kitchen staff. Our children gather in the whare kai/ hall and sit down to enjoy these lunches together. All lunches are made to the nutritional standards https://kaorakaako.education.govt.nz/nutrition-standards
