What is PB4L?
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) School Wide is a framework to help build a culture of positive behaviour and learning. The framework is based on international evidence and can be tailored to school's own environment and cultural needs.
Tier 1 Implementation of PB4L School Wide
In 2021 through to 2022 we have:
Simplified our values to Kindness, Courage and Respect (aka KCR Values) to ensure all children from our youngest to our eldest, can articulate the important values at the core of our vision
Established free-and-frequent KCR tickets given out to children to acknowledge their demonstration of our values and to reinforce the positive behaviours we want to see across our school. Our termly goal is reach 5,000 tickets; when we do, the children vote on a whole school celebration
Established award and reward systems focused on our values which include assembly certificates, prize draws, whole school celebration, and end-of-year awards
Tier 2 Implementation of PB4L School Wide
In 2021 through to 2022 we have:
Established STOPs referrals for moderate- to major-level incidents of misbehaviour. Children involved referred to STOPs will bring home a reflection sheet that outlines the incident, for parents and caregivers information. See the diagram below to see our response for repeated misbehaviour
Established restorative processes to fix the harm to relationships when there's been misbehaviour
Established Tuakana Mediators who support Duty Teachers to carry out active supervision of our playgrounds during break times. Tuakana Mediators are trained to help resolve any minor issues and are easily identifiable by their bright fluro vests
In 2023 we will:
Look at classroom problem solving strategies
Participate in the Incredible Years for Teachers Programme
