Te Awa Kairangi AccessTrust (Taka Trust) in association with RideHolidays provided Arakura School with 30 new bikes in 2021, and have provided ongoing maintenance support.  

We have since had Pedal Ready working with us including organising the first ever Wainuiomata Schools Cluster Bike Ride event for our Year 6 students in September 2022.

In 2022 we opened the bike storage container, standing on its new concrete pad with retainer walls.  This was possible thanks to the generous funding from the Chris and Melinda Leatham Charitable Trust.

Each year we participate in Movin' March to encourage biking, scootering and walking to school.  This is an important action for climate change that Arakura School is committed to.  

Our next step is building a bike track on the top field.  This is a long-term project for which we will need the support of our community.
