Ko wai tātou?
Arakura School is located at the northern heart of Wainuiomata. We are a contributing school – with Year 1 to 6 students. The beautiful hills that surround our top court, field and playground are a rich natural backdrop and setting for learning, exploration and play.
Our roll ranges between 125-150 students.
We are a multicultural school with 51% Māori; 29% NZ European; 14% Pasifika (Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island and Niuean); and 6% other ethnicities (Indian, Filipino, African, Fijian, Chinese, Australian, Thai, and other European).
Our bell rings four times each day:
9.00am Start of school day
Learning Block 1 9.00am - 10.40am
Morning tea break 10.40am - 11.00am
Learning Block 2 11.00am - 12.50pm
Lunch break
Juniors eat 12.50pm - 1.20pm. Play 1.20pm - 1.50pm
Seniors play 12.50pm - 1.20pm. Eat 1.20pm - 1.50pm
01.50pm Learning Block 3 1.50pm - 3.00pm
03.00pm End of school day
